Gestalt therapy is a humanistic approach focused on the present: what you feel, think and do now, and how you relate to others.

Therapy in English with a native speaker

I'm half English, and English is one of my native languages. Talking about how you feel in your own language, without having to translate yourself, makes therapy more precise and more personal.

I often work with people from Barcelona's international community, in person or online:

  • Expats and relocated professionals
  • International students
  • Intercultural couples
  • Long-term residents in Spain

How I work

Understanding what's happening to you and changing what keeps repeating.

In the first sessions we assess what's going on, since when and how it affects your life, and we set goals. From there we work with what shows up in the present: thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations and the way you relate, including within the session itself.

My foundation is Gestalt therapy, which I integrate with tools from cognitive behavioural therapy, mentalization and attachment theory as each case requires. We review goals and pace together throughout the process.

  • Gestalt
  • Mentalization (MBT)
  • Attachment theory
  • Cognitive behavioural (CBT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Humanistic
  • The therapeutic relationship

It's one of the factors that most influences the outcome of therapy. So I make sure it's a trusting, honest and non-judgemental space.

  • Clear goals

We define what you want to change and review progress regularly.

  • An integrative approach

I adapt the tools to each person rather than applying a single protocol.

About me

I'm a licensed health psychologist registered with the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia (no. 30868), with a Master's in General Health Psychology (MPGS) and five years of clinical experience.

I'm half English, so English and Spanish are both native languages for me, and I also speak Catalan: you can do therapy in whichever language feels most comfortable. I see clients at my practice on Carrer de la Diputació and at Clínica ART, and I also lead a therapy group for men.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need to see a psychologist?

If something has been causing you distress for a while, is affecting your work, relationships or sleep, or you feel you can't sort it out on your own, it's a good time to reach out. You don't need to be in a very bad place to start.

How long does therapy last?

It depends on what brings you and on your goals. Some people work on a specific issue over a few months; others prefer a longer process. After the assessment I'll give you an estimate and we review progress together.

How often are sessions?

Usually weekly at first. Later on they can be spaced out to every two weeks, depending on how you're doing.

Does online therapy work as well as in person?

For most issues, yes: studies show comparable results. Sessions are by video call and you can join from anywhere in Spain; all you need is a quiet space and a stable connection.

Can I have therapy in English?

Yes. I'm half English, and English and Spanish are both native languages for me; I also speak Catalan. Many people living in Barcelona prefer to have therapy in their own language.

What happens in the first session?

We talk about what brings you, your current situation and your history. It's also a chance for you to see whether you feel comfortable working with me. The first three sessions last an hour.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in session is protected by professional confidentiality and the code of ethics of the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia, with the exceptions set out by law.

How do I pay? Do you provide invoices?

You can pay by bank transfer, card, PayPal or cash. I provide an invoice for every session.

Can I start therapy if I don't speak Spanish?

Yes. The whole process can be in English: the first call, sessions, messages and invoices.

Do you work with expats?

Yes. Many of the people I work with have moved to Barcelona for work, study or a partner. We work on adjusting to a new country, loneliness, identity and long-distance relationships, as well as anything else that brings you to therapy.
