What depression can feel like

  • Low mood most days

Sadness, emptiness or numbness that lasts for weeks rather than days.

  • Loss of interest

Things you used to enjoy feel flat, and it takes a huge effort to start anything.

  • Tiredness and sleep

Sleeping too much or too little, and waking up already exhausted.

  • Harsh self-criticism

Thoughts of being a failure, a burden or not good enough.

  • Withdrawing

Cancelling plans, not answering messages and spending more time alone.

  • Far from home

Living abroad can deepen low mood: fewer people around you, less sunlight in winter, and no one who has known you for years.

How we work

In the first sessions we look at how you are now, how long it has been like this and what may be feeding it. We agree on goals that feel realistic, even if right now everything feels difficult.

My approach is integrative and based on Gestalt therapy: making room for what you feel instead of fighting it, and noticing how you relate to yourself and others. I combine it with tools from cognitive behavioural therapy, such as gradually returning to activities that give you energy and questioning the harshest thoughts.

As a psychologist I don't prescribe medication. When depression is severe, therapy often works best alongside a GP or psychiatrist, and I can help you take that step.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if it is depression or just a bad patch?

If low mood, tiredness or loss of interest last more than a couple of weeks and affect your work, relationships or sleep, it's worth talking to someone. We can look at it together in the free call.

Can therapy help without medication?

For many people, yes, especially with mild to moderate depression. In more severe cases a combination of therapy and medication usually works best.

Can we do sessions online?

Yes, by video call from anywhere in Spain. For some people with depression, not having to leave the house makes it easier to start.

How often are sessions?

We agree on the frequency together, depending on how you are and what you need.
